In the book I talked about the best bits to use when drilling holes for tenons.The bits were called forstner bits I like to use them because they cut a nice clean hole.The only bad thing is if you get off a little when drilling they tend to walk.This is caused when the drill is not stright up and down or you hit a knot.Another problem is you need to put a lot of down pressure to drill a hole.Now for the good news they also make forstner bits that have a self feed tip.This pulls the bit into the log without alot of pressure.Starting a hole is easy because the self feed tip keeps the bit from walking.The bits cost a little more but in the long run it's worth it.To find the self feed bits at the best prices go to www.treelineusa.com or call them at 1800-598-2743
